The Toronto Metropolitan Graduate Students' Union (TMGSU) is your voice on campus. We advocate for graduate students, provide essential services, and create spaces where you can connect, grow, and thrive during your studies.

We are your TMU Graduate Students' Union! The TMU Graduate Students' Union is governed by a Graduate Executive Committee (four elected Executive Members) and a Graduate Council (seven elected Graduate Directors). The TMGSU employs one staff member that works to service the membership and improve your student experience by providing cost-saving services, and community building events.

We are a membership-driven union, representing over 2,500 full-time and part-time graduate students at Toronto Metropolitan University. We are dedicated to supporting your graduate journey through offering services such as health and dental coverage, funding for course unions and hosting events to build a community on campus.

Talha Ince

President

Talha Ince is a PhD candidate in Chemical Engineering at TMU, specializing in wearable biosensors and non-invasive health monitoring technologies. As President of TMGSU, he is committed to strengthening graduate student representation, improving communication, expanding access to grants and bursaries, supporting student groups and course unions, and advocating for better housing, funding, wellness, and professional-development opportunities. Known for his energetic, positive, and solution-oriented leadership style, Talha aims to build a more transparent, collaborative, and member-focused TMGSU that improves graduate student life during studies and beyond graduation.

Mainul Hossain

Vice President Operations

Mainul Hossain serves as Vice President Operations of the TMGSU, bringing over a decade of leadership experience in strategic initiatives, government, and financial stewardship. As a signing officer and Chair of the Finance Committee, he manages the TMGSU portfolio, ensuring the organization remains fiscally sustainable and accountable to its members. A proud TMU Bachelor's and recent MBA graduate, Mainul also served as VP Finance of the Ted Rogers MBA Student Association, where he managed budgets, supported strategic planning, and contributed to the growth of the student community. A two-time Toastmasters President, he has honed his skills in public speaking, team development, and fostering inclusive, growth-oriented environments. He is passionate about amplifying graduate student voices, building a stronger, more connected student community, and creating spaces where every member feels heard and empowered.

Ehsan Zamani Abyaneh

VP Student Life & Events

Ehsan Zamani Abyaneh is a PhD candidate in Chemical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, where his research focuses on multiphase mixing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and process intensification for industrial applications. As Vice President, Student Life & Events at TMGSU, Ehsan leads initiatives that foster an inclusive, vibrant, and connected graduate student community — organizing campus-wide social, cultural, and professional events, supporting graduate student groups and course unions, promoting student engagement, and collaborating with university partners to enhance the overall graduate student experience.

Nurul Hasbi

VP Education & Research

Nurul Hasbi is an MBA candidate at the Ted Rogers School of Management with a passion for fostering inclusive workplaces and creating meaningful learning experiences. She brings experience across both the post-secondary and non-profit sectors, including Learning and Development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Beyond her professional role, Nurul is an active student leader with the Women in Leadership Association and the MBA Student Association, where she champions collaboration, mentorship, and opportunities that empower students to grow as future leaders.

Walied Khogali Ali

General Manager

Walied Khogali Ali serves as General Manager of TMGSU, bringing nearly a decade of leadership experience in student union governance and community advocacy. From 2011 to 2016, he served as Executive Director of the University of Toronto Mississauga Students' Union, overseeing human resources, financial operations, and campus-wide programming for a team of staff, elected officers, and volunteers. He has since held leadership roles with organizations including the Regent Park Neighbourhood Association and the Hospitality Workers Training Centre, and has worked alongside groups like United Way and the Toronto Environmental Alliance on housing, transit, and equity initiatives. Walied is passionate about building inclusive, well-run organizations and bringing that same commitment to governance and community to his work with TMGSU.

Niusha Sabri Kadijani Engineering & Architectural Science

PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering at TMU. Represents Engineering & Architectural Science students and works to strengthen communication between grad students and the university.
